Starlight Ronin season 3 confirmed for spring 2027, original director returns
Studio Kumoya released a 90-second teaser alongside the announcement, opening on the Ashfall arc that fans have waited two years to see animated.
Studio Kumoya confirmed on Friday that Starlight Ronin will return for a third season in April 2027, ending months of speculation that followed the season 2 finale. Director Haruto Sena and series composer Mio Kanzaki are both back, along with most of the main voice cast.
The announcement came with a 90-second teaser that opens on the burning city of Kurogane, the setting of the manga's Ashfall arc. The arc runs across volumes 14 to 19 and is widely considered the high point of the original series.
What the teaser shows
Most of the footage is new. The teaser closes on a short duel between Kaito and the Ashen Regent, staged in the same long, unbroken takes that made the season 2 finale stand out. Kumoya's animation producer said at the stream that the team began storyboarding the arc before season 2 had finished airing.
We wanted the time to do Ashfall properly. That meant starting early and not cutting a single fight.
Haruto Sena, director, speaking on the studio's announcement stream
The studio did not confirm the episode count, but a listing on the production committee's site describes the season as running for two consecutive cours, which would mean around 24 episodes.
Where to watch in Vietnam
Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Crunchyroll with Vietnamese subtitles. The platform has not yet confirmed season 3, but it has carried every previous season as a simulcast within an hour of the Japanese broadcast.

Two cours for Ashfall is exactly what it needed. The manga crams a lot into those volumes.
Glad Sena is back. Season 2's last fight is still the best thing Kumoya has made.
Hoping Crunchyroll confirms the simulcast soon.
