THE ONE PIECE anime remake by WIT Studio has revealed its first key visual ahead of its February 2027 release date. The anime previously confirmed that Mayumi Tanaka will reprise the role of Luffy in the new anime, teasing it with a teaser trailer.

The anime is a collaboration with Netflix, which is set to release all 7 episodes at once in February next year. They previously revealed the main staff members, including Masashi Koizuka as director. The first season will cover approximately 50 chapters of the original story, showing up until Luffy’s meeting with Sanji at the Baratie sea restaurant.

The new remake project is described as:

Produced by WIT Studio, THE ONE PIECE is a brand new anime adaptation starting from the original manga’s East Blue saga. Separate from the TV anime series that has charged full speed ahead over the course of more than 25 years, this series taps into the expressive potential of modern technology to offer a familiar yet fresh take on the adventures of Luffy. The rare footage of character design sheets and image boards showcased in this video provides a glimpse into the world of this new anime.

The new key visual is based on the manga’s very first color spread, and you can check both out below.

The visual is based on the color spread from the manga’s Chapter 1.

In a previous interview with Real Sound, president of WIT Studio and Production I.G said that they are aware 1000+ episodes are a lot, as well as that younger audiences accustomed to modern anime might find the 25-year-old episodes difficult to watch due to the 4:3 analog format. They see the remake working together with the manga, original anime, and live-action versions of ONE PIECE to expand its reach. Toei Animation has encouraged them to give it their all while they continue with the latest episodes.

Netflix describes the project as recreation of the ONE PIECE manga, starting from the East Blue arc. ONE PIECE by Eiichiro Oda first began serialization in July 1997, and the series exceeded 500 million circulating copies in August 2022. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, while Crunchyroll streams the anime.

ONE PIECE also has Season 3 of the live-action THE BATTLE OF ALABASTA releasing in 2027 and a new LEGO special animation project releasing on September 29 coming to Netflix.
