The story is set in a world shaped by mixed reality (MR) technology. Sixth-grade student Yuma Ashihara is playing the VRMMORPG Actual Magic when the boundaries between the game and reality suddenly collapse, creating a dangerous new world where both have merged.

As Yuma struggles to understand what has happened, he encounters his classmate Sumika Watamaki, one of the school’s most popular girls. However, her appearance has transformed into something resembling a monster from the game, marking the beginning of a deadly survival game.

The original light novel currently has four volumes, with the latest, Demons’ Crest Volume 4: Haken ∽ Soudatsu, released on December 10, 2025. A webtoon adaptation illustrated by TO Moe is also serialized on the HykeComic platform, with one volume released.
