Kaiju No. 8 Final Movie Announced for 2027 as Anime Conclusion

Kaiju No. 8: The Movie will officially conclude with the series as a theatrical film set for release in 2027, bringing the anime series to its final chapter on the big screen. The movie will follow the first two seasons of the TV anime and serve as the conclusion to the entire adaptation. It was originally announced during Jump Festa 2026 alongside the Narumi’s Week at Work 4-episode special.

A super teaser visual was revealed alongside the announcement featuring the tagline, “The age of humanity ends.” Studio Production I.G is returning to handle the animation production for the film.

Masaya Fukunishi, who voices Kafka Hibino, commented:

“After the broadcasts of Seasons 1 and 2, we’ve been able to enjoy the Kaiju No. 8 anime together with everyone.

And now, in 2027, this series will finally reach its conclusion with a theatrical film!

Next year will also be the year I turn 32, the same age as Kafka. I can’t help but feel that there’s something fateful about reaching the final chapter at this particular moment…!

Until the very, very end, I’ll continue giving everything I have to creating this work that I love so much, together with my beloved Kafka Hibino and Kaiju No. 8.

Thank you for all your support!!”

Studio Production I.G is animating again, with Studio Khara back in charge of the creature designs. The anime so far released a total of 23 episodes between April 13, 2024 and September 27, 2025.

The Kaiju No. 8 manga by Naoya Matsumoto began serialization in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform. The manga series officially ended in July with Chapter 129 and was compiled into a total of 16 volumes. Viz Media is publishing it in English, describing the story:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.

The game adaptation of the franchise, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, exceeded 750,000 million pre-registrations and launched worldwide on August 31, 2025.
