Destiny Unchain Online TV Anime Announced, Adapting VR Fantasy About Gamer Trapped as a Vampire Girl

Destiny Unchain Online: How I became the Crimson Devil has officially been announced for a TV anime adaptation.

The announcement was made alongside the launch of the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and a commemorative illustration by manga artist Yachimoto, who adapts the series’ light novel into manga.

Written by resn, the series follows middle school gamer Ko Mitsuki, a highly skilled player known online as the “Head-Hunting Crimson.” After agreeing to test a next-generation full-dive VR game developed by his father, he is unexpectedly forced to spend three months inside the game due to a series of bugs.

To make matters worse, Mitsuki finds himself transformed into a vampire girl, unable to log out, and stranded in a remote forest at the start of the game. What begins as a disastrous beta test gradually develops into a fantasy adventure, with the protagonist eventually earning the title of the “Crimson Demon Lord.”

The original novel is currently being adapted into a manga by Yachimoto, which is serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform. The manga’s 13th collected volume also released in Japan on August 7.

Original author resn thanked illustrator and manga artist Yachimoto, the production staff, and readers who have supported the series:

I’m delighted that the day has finally come for the anime adaptation of DUO to be announced. We have made it this far entirely thanks to the efforts of the many people involved, especially Yachimoto-sensei, who handled both the manga adaptation and the illustrations. First, I would like to express my gratitude and offer my congratulations. I am also deeply grateful to everyone who has supported the series as readers. I hope this announcement gives more people the opportunity to discover DUO. Thank you for your continued support.
