Black Clover Season 2 Episode 3 Preview and Synopsis Revealed

Black Clover Season 2 has released preview images and synopsis for Episode 3 (Episode 173 overall) ahead of its October 17 premiere. The new season officially began on October 3, 2026, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide.

The official Episode 3 synopsis:

At last, the gates of the underworld open.

The Resistance Army, led by Albert, and the Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom, including Makusa and his companions, desperately fight to protect the citizens of the Spade Kingdom from the low-ranking devils pouring out of the underworld’s first level.

Meanwhile, a giant demon appears in the Clover Kingdom, where the Magic Knight Captains are absent, putting its citizens in mortal danger. The one who saves them from this crisis is Asta, wielding the power of Anti-Magic after mastering “Devil Union.”

Amidst all this, the Dark Triad’s devil power finally reaches 100%…

The Black Clover manga was serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 2015 to August 2023, before transferring to Jump GIGA. It entered its final arc in August 2022 and officially ended on May 1 after eleven years of serialization. The manga is available to read on Viz Media’s website, MANGA Plus website, and the Shonen Jump mobile app in English. 

It received a 170-episode anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot, which ran from 2017 to 2021. The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie premiered on June 16 and is streaming on Netflix. Crunchyroll streams the TV anime, and they describe the story:

In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day.
